Not all flus are created equal, we think they are all the same, but the symptoms for each person experiencing the flu is unique. I am going to outline some of the best homeopathic remedies for flu. The basic components of a flu are

1.) fever
2.) chill
3.) sweat

In homeopathy we prescribe based on the symptoms the patient has. There is no ONE remedy for a flu, there are several in our pharmacopia. Homeopathic remedies are not a substitute for proper medical care.

Arsenicum Album: people that are in need of Aresenicum, are generally restless, chilly and exhausted.  Eyes and nose run with excoriating, acrid, foul discharges with gastrointestinal upset, vomiting or burning diarrhea are key for this remedy with symptoms becoming worse at night. They are general thirsty for warm water, and better by warm.

Baptisa: what is key for this remedy is the bad breath or smelly diarrhea, if you aren't knocked out by the breath it isn't baptisa. Body feels sore and heavy with mental stupor, and rapid development of extreme exhaustion. Cough is usually minimal, but profuse sweating with thirst,  a duskyness, and puffiness of the face occur. Bed feels as hard as a rock. May appear similar to gelsenium.

Gelsenium: key to this remedy is the trembling, and no thirst. If they are thirsty it isn't gelsemium. Feels to weary to move, wants peace and quiet, chills run up the spine, and a headaches starts at the back of the head and travels downward. The headache and trembling are better from urination. They have an intense fear of motion, especially downward motion, and they feel a sensation of vertigo at the back of the head. tremors usually occur with muscle aches and pains, and fatigue of the limbs.

Bryonia: key to this remedy is the pain they experience is unbearable with the slightest movement. As a result they do NOT want to move, gelsemium doesn't want to move because they are exhausted and bryonia doesn't want to move becasue it will trigger the pain they are experiecing. Pains are particularily felt in the joints and in the chest. There is also a key symptom oif dryness in the mouth on the lips, dry bowel movements, as well as thirst for cold drinks.

Rus Tox: restlessness and repeatedly woken by pain in back of limbs. Pain aching and stiffness better by motion and limbering up, but weakens quickly and needs to rest again. They feel chilly, and thirsty for cold milk. Lying down makes them feel worse.

Aconite: sudden onset of high fever, intensely craves ice cold water or ice cubes, very thirsty. There is a feeling of impending danger or death, very intense. Vomiting is forceful and frequent. Chills may accompany the fever.
